The Merger Fund^® is a unique investment vehicle. Launched in 1989, it was the first mutual fund devoted exclusively to merger arbitrage. In the 21 years since inception, the Fund's highly experienced managers have continually refined their investment approach and added new risk-management tools in pursuit of one principal objective: to produce positive returns under a wide variety of market conditions. In the 10 years ended January 31, 2009, the Fund outperformed the S&P 500 by more than five percentage points a year while showing far less volatility than conventional equity mutual funds.
